Drum circles can be used in areas of:

• Reality Orientation and Self Awareness

• Self Expression and Creativity

• Cognitive / Sequencing

• Impulse Control

• Communication / Social Interaction

Reality Orientation and Self Awareness

Our drum and music circle works very well in reinforcing reality based behaviour as it is very much "in the moment". Bringing people back to the "now" through rhythm.

Self Expression and Creativity

We create a safe and supportive environment in our drum and music circles so that people can express themselves non-verbally and receive peer reinforcement.

Cognitive / Sequencing

Our drum and music circles stimulate thinking and conversation. They also help reinforce short and long term memory recall.

Impulse Control

By focusing a group on teamwork and the importance of everyone's contribution we can help control impulse issues that may be prevelant within specific groups within the community, such as name calling, acting out in the group, response to internal stimuli, boundary issues, and sexually inappropriate behaviour.

Communication / Social Interaction

Our drum and music circles help build non-verbal communication skills like eye contact and body language. By breaking out of their "personal space" and perhaps interact physically with others, participants can learn to "let go" of unnecessary boundaries.
