Making your own genuine African drum is a very meditative and hands on experience...it's a great reward to know you have made it! And dont worry,we make sure you get a great drum as we guide you with lots of patience and good advice! You choose your drum shell, skin and rope then are led through the stages of preparation, roping, skinning, tuning and finishing.

We source the best available djembe, boogaraboo, and dun dun drums (bass drums) from many West African countries. We assemble the drums here with excellent goat skins and the best drum making rope available. Our drum makers have high very high standards. Each drum is tuned properly.

Choose from a huge selection of Djembe drums (hand drums), Bougaraboos (hand drums) & Dun Duns (bass drums) from Mali, Guinea, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast and Ghana and Indonesia.

We also create affordable drum making courses for specific groups;

We offer African drums for everyone….beginners to professionals. You can choose one of our ready made drums or have one specially made to your specifications…you can even do a drum making course with us (same price as the drum but you keep the drum!) We hand pick the best drum shells from Guinea, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso or Ghana in West Africa…. you get the real thing and help support families and culture of West Africa at the same time! Specially treated with Shea butter, Bees wax or Linseed oil your drum shell will withstand the elements, make it last longer… and look and smell great too! Skins are sourced locally, many of which are feral goats roaming in our National Parks. You can choose to have it hairy or hairless and with skin or no skin over the side of the drum (exposed rings). To care for the skin, never let the skin; get wet, go from extreme hot to cold (like being left in a car) and always play your drum at every possible chance…hand know the drum, drum know the hand! When your not using the drum, cover the skin with a cloth or put it in a drum bag. The rope we use is made specifically for drums. Its static rope (doesn’t stretch) to ensure your drum stays tuned for longer. Oh yeh, make sure your drum is tuned… you’ll enjoy it so much more. Did you know… the older a drum gets the better it gets! That’s because the wood continually dries and reaches a stage where it “settles” or reaches maturity. We are around. When you need advise or help…let us know!
